CycloQuest VR

Project Overview

CycloQuest VR connects a physical bicycle with a virtual environment, translating pedal rotations into in-world speed.

The project offers both a relaxed exploration mode through multiple 360-degree environments and a race mode where players steer, avoid obstacles, collect points and chase a better finish.

It explores how fitness hardware, play and immersion can support each other.

Development Process

Arduino and Bluetooth data were used to capture rotations per minute and map cycling input into VR movement.

The handlebar setup controlled direction, while collectible items such as extra lives, magnets and immunity added game structure to the race mode.

The interaction model focused on responsiveness, comfort and a clear connection between physical effort and virtual feedback.

Key Features

  • Bicycle input
  • Arduino RPM measurement
  • Bluetooth communication
  • 360-degree exploration mode
  • Timed race mode with collectibles

Results & Impact

CycloQuest VR demonstrates a practical bridge between exercise equipment and immersive game systems, making physical effort visible and playful in VR.
